Passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 12th, 2016. Beloved husband, best friend and lover of Kathy “KT” (Nee Thomas). Proud father of Captain David Thomas (Ashley) Nesseth, Fort Bragg, NC, and Eric John Nesseth, Milwaukee, WI. Loving papa of Lilly Nesseth. Preceded in death by his parents Wilbert and Charlotte Nesseth and brother David Nesseth. Son-in-law of John D. Thomas, Kenosha, WI, brother-in-laws James R. (James Belanger) Thomas of Beaver Dam, WI, Don C. (Mary Beth) Thomas, Oshkosh, WI, Paul J. (Donna) Thomas, Merrill, WI, Mark D. (Debbie) Thomas, Butternut, WI. Uncle of Stacey Townsend, Lumberton, NC, Matthew (Courtney) Thomas, Mt. Pleasant, WI, Adam (Tori) Thomas, Phoenix, AZ, and John D. Thomas III “Jack”, Oshkosh, WI. He survived by many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 3PM-5:45PM on Friday, June 17th at St. Gregory the Great Church, 3160 S. 63rd St. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6PM.

John compassionately enhanced the lives of others through his work at the Elmbrook Family Counseling Center and Waukesha County Mental Health Center. John was a gentle, loving man who cared deeply for his family, friends and all whom he encountered. John enjoyed nature; running, deer hunting, skiing, golfing and spending time at their Mountain House. He loved teaching the basics of life, and mentoring his children and others. He was a Eucharistic minister at St. Gregory the Great Church. As a focus couple, John and Kathy prepared many couples for marriage at their parish. John was a Scoutmaster at St. Mary’s Elm Grove Troop 32 and took the Venture Scouts to High Adventures in Colorado, Montana, and the Apostle Islands. He guided several scouts to the rank of Eagle including his two sons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Greg’s Praise Group and Praise Mass and/or Boy Scouts of America, Potawatomi Area Council.
