John J. Hinnendael Sr.

John J. Hinnendael Sr, age 92 passed away on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 surrounded by his surviving family after a short hospital stay but a long decline that saw him slowly give up the many activities he loved. He was born September 13th, 1931, in Luxemburg, WI the son of Frank and Laura (DuChateau) Hinnendael. He married Patricia Lison on November 5th, 1955, in Green Bay, WI. John is survived by his wife Patricia, his son John Jr. (Jack)(Michele), his son-in-law Jim Draper, two grandchildren Kristen and Kevin Draper and dearest friend Mary Thuemling. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Emma Leishow and Sarah Rasmussen, brothers Francis (Frank), Henry and his daughter Susan (Draper).

John graduated from Luxembourg High School in 1949 and University of Wisconsin Madison in 1953. John then joined Arthur Andersen and traveled the country in an audit capacity. From there he joined Koehring Company in Milwaukee, rising to the position of VP of Finance and finally moved on to top finance positions with both Cross & Trecker in Detroit and then back to Milwaukee to close out his career with Sta-Rite. Throughout his life he participated in many activities including downhill skiing, tennis, golfing and traveling. He was a longtime Packer season ticket holder and regularly attended Packer games beginning in the 1930’s, ending when the walk to the stadium and stadium steps became prohibitive. He also was an avid sailor and was a long-time member of the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center. Another passion for John during retirement was to spend extended time during the summer and winter at a family place in Jackson, WY. The summer visits gave him a chance for a long drive in his Miata.

John will be remembered as a loving father who always kept himself and his family on the go, always ready and available to attend sporting events or help his children with whatever they needed at a particular time in their lives.

John will be cremated and eventually buried in his hometown of Luxemburg, WI near his parents and his sister Sarah. A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorials in John’s name may be given to the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center (sailingcenter.org). Online condolences may be made at www.heritagefuneral.com
