John Mathias Gabriel
Born to Eternal Life October 2, 2023 at the age of 76. Preceded in death by his parents John and Caroline Gabriel. Beloved brother of the late Michael (Marcia), the late Joan, the late Ronald, and Jerome “Jerry” Gabriel. Loving uncle of Lynn (Richard) Wagner. Dear great-uncle of Charlotte. Also survived by other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Saber Group Homes for their kind and loving care over the past few years as well as Harmony Cares Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM, at St. Matthias Catholic Church (9306 W. Beloit Rd.). Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment at St. Matthias Church Cemetery.
I grew up with Johnny and remember all the fun we would have when visiting his Mom and Dad on many Sunday afternoons. I especially remember how hard we would laugh when our parents butchered chickens because they would still fly after their heads were chopped off!. It is funny how these silly things remain in my memory from 70 or more years ago.
Johnny’s Mom was my Dad’s sister and also my Godmother. Once I was married, I moved to Casco, WI, so I did not see Johnny very much. But if. there were family weddings or get together that we would attend in Milwaukee, if Johnny was there, he always remembered me and we would have a nice conversation.
