John Philip “Jack” Weber
1945 – 2025
John Philip “Jack” Weber was born in a small town outside of Antigo called Wabeno, in central Wisconsin. In the late 1940’s the family moved to Racine Wisconsin.
While attending Lamberton school in the 5th grade, Jack met the love of his life, Reta Sanders. They later became high school sweethearts and in December 2024 celebrated 60 years of marriage.
In the early 1970’s Glenn Weber, with the help of his sons Jack and Don, built the family cabin up in Mercer, Wisconsin. The cabin started as a basement block structure built into the side of a hill and evolved over the years into a beautiful family retreat. Jack loved having family and friends come up to enjoy the Northwoods. He was an avid fisherman and taught his kids and his grandkids his love of fishing. He knew the best spots to find those elusive walleyes, crappies, perch, and bluegills and was the ultimate judge of whether or not the catch was a “keeper” or not.
In 1971, Jack and Reta started attending Bible studies when their friends Gene and MaryAnn Wildes invited them to hear about God. They became Christians and were part of the small group of people that began Parkway Apostolic Church in 1972 under the leadership of Frank and Angeline Tamel. Jack held various roles in the church including Usher, Board Member, Sunday school teacher, and Song Leader (although he’d be the first to admit he couldn’t “carry a tune”). He did it because he was asked to. He also taught countless Bible studies and led many people to their walk with the Lord.
Jack enjoyed a long career as a tool and die maker and worked for Nielsen Machine company for close to 45 years.
Jack and Reta enjoyed their winters in a condo in Fort Myers, Florida for 14 years. They made lifelong friendships there and enjoyed having their children and grandchildren come to visit. In true Jack fashion, he bought a small boat down there and frequently fished the local bays and inlets in Ft Myers to find the delicacies of Florida. Ask anyone, Jack Weber made the best fish fry around.
Jack wasn’t one to stay idle. No matter where he was at the time, he was always tinkering with something. He could take useless items around the house and build something useful. He passed this resourcefulness on to his children along with his frugal “save a buck” mentality. He was never wasteful and would repurpose just about anything.
From an early age Jack had quite the sense of humor and was known for his pranks and clever wit. He was also very mild mannered and a genuinely kind person. Jack wasn’t afraid of hard work and had strong Christian values.
Jack enjoyed all Wisconsin sports teams and wholeheartedly supported the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers.
Jack will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Nothing brought him greater joy than surrounding himself with his loved ones. Throughout his life and he impacted the lives of many by sharing his love for God. Heaven gained a “keeper”.

So my family has been In presque isle Wisconsin almost as long as the Webers have been in Mercer Wisconsin and John and I have been friends the entire time.. I want to share an experience that my wife and I had with Jack… Misty and I headed to Mercer with the intention of meeting up with John. And it turned out he wasn’t there that weekend and Jack was the only person at the house when we showed up… without hesitation he came down to the pier with a sausage/cheese tray and beers for me and my wife and we had what I can only describe as one of the most beautiful days I can remember. He was truly one of the most welcoming and friendliest people I have ever met. I feel honored to have met him and he will be truly missed. It was an honor to have met him and we are blessed to have known him.
