Joseph Michael Cassinelli

Joseph Michael Cassinelli. (60) passed away peacefully on September 26th, 2023, with his family lovingly by his side.
Born September 15th, 1963 in Tucson, AZ to Professor Joseph P. Cassinelli and Mary LeFever Cassinelli. Joe lived an adventurous life with his two sisters Carolyn and Kachi (Mary), hiking, biking, and camping as their family moved from Seattle, WA to Boulder, CO eventually settling in Madison, WI. Their family traveled back to Cincinnati, OH often to see relatives and friends. They also enjoyed a year abroad in the Netherlands.
Joe always was fascinated by how things worked. As a boy, he helped his dad replace picture tubes in the tv. As a teen, he replaced wiring in the house, so the family could have a new dryer. Joe graduated from James Madison Memorial High School, Class of 1981. As a young adult, Joe’s interests led him to join the Air Force to become an aircraft mechanic working on F-16 fighter jets. He was based at Hill Air Force Base in Utah where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Joe continued his career as an aircraft mechanic and inspector at Midwest Express Airlines for 18 years. He later worked for Southwest Airlines for 12 years, until his recent retirement. He was a member of  AMFA Local 4 Union. Joe loved working with “the guys” at the hangar and the flight line, where he built many lasting friendships. Even among his colleagues, Joe’s special mechanical talents stood out – “There’s nothing Joe can’t fix”.
Joe met his true love Jeanne (Bogart) at a Midwest Express Christmas party. With hearts in his eyes , they worked their way through Joe’s relationship pre-flight checklist and married on February 24th, 2001. Joe and Jeanne raised 4 beautiful  children together, Rory, Joseph Logan, Kathryn and Brett. Joe’s greatest joy was in being a devoted family man. Joe was endlessly proud of the kids and made sure to give each child special attention. He created lasting memories through extravagant family vacations to see every corner of the country. What Joe cherished most was his family time at home watching the kids in the backyard and playing with his golden retrievers Xena, Ruby and Roxy.
Joe’s passions included working on cool cars, especially his Cougar and his C-4 Corvette, skiing, mountain biking, hiking in nature and traveling. He was a thrill seeker who rode fast motorcycles, went hang gliding and skydiving. Joe had a creative mind and an artistic eye. He loved woodworking and enjoyed customizing his beautiful home. Joe was a true “Golden Boy”.  He was known for his blond hair and his contagious, radiant smile. He was kind hearted and quick to help a friend in need. Joe was easy going, but always planning ahead to his next big project. He was truly a mechanical genius.
There was no better man than Joe.  He had the most patient, selfless, thoughtful, joyful, bright and loving heart. His one of a kind soul deeply touched us all. Cancer’s got nothing on him now, time to rest peacefully in Heaven.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife Jeanne, their precious children Rory, Joey, Katie and Brett. Preceded in death by his Mother, Mary LeFever Cassinelli. Treasured by his Father, Professor Joseph P. Cassinelli, Sisters Carolyn (Al) and Mary (Brian), Nephew Lance (Yvette), Great Nephew Aidan, His Father and Mother-in-law Jess and Jane Bogart, and many dear relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 4th, 2023 5pm. – 8pm at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (9200 S. 27th Street, Oak Creek). A funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 at 9:30 am at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (9200 S. 27th St, Oak Creek) with burial to follow at FOREST HILL MEMORIAL PARK (3301 E Forest Hill Ave, Oak Creek).

I’m sorry for your loss. I worked with Joe at Midwest. I guess my favorite memory was him letting me use his Dad’s Badger tix at Camp Randall. That upper deck felt like it was gonna collapse during “Jump Around”. Getting invited to your Wedding reception was cool as well.

Jeanne, you wrote a beautiful tribute to your husband. It is obvious how much you loved each other and hope that you find comfort with your children.
I am Carolyn’s childhood friend & knew Joe through her. Carolyn, hugs to you too.

I pray that you all find some comfort and peace

Inspector Joe was one of the first people I met when I started my aviation maintenance career at Midwest Express and was an extremely positive and patient guy that helped me start out on the right foot. Joe always had a smile and laughter to share in and out of the hangar. When I started at Southwest in 2018 and found that Joe was one of our AMTs in Milwaukee, I knew that we were in good hands! My condolences on your loss and I will be with you in spirit as Joe is given a proper send off, free of pain and suffering.
