Joyce E. Brace
Passed away peacefully, at 83, October 23, 2022, with family at her side. Joyce is predeceased by her parents, Samuel & Sara Cotherman (Robinson) and her loving husband of 37 years, Thomas Brace.
Survived by her children, Phil Davis, Jeff (Sharon) Davis, Cynthia (Jackie) Brace and Lori Conner (Davis). Further survived by her beloved brother, Bill Cotherman, her grandchildren: Kelly, Lindsay, Joe, Scena, Katherine, Annelise, Craig and Christy, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many more cherished family & friends.
Those closest to Joyce will remember her for many things, including her early morning “greetings” that most often were delivered via text message. Her words were always a well wish for success in the day ahead. Joyce loved to quilt and was most talented. After making her first quilt in 2004, she went on to create countless personalized quilts for all her family, many friends and every great-grandchild was welcomed into the world with a personalized work of art, that she poured her love into. Joyce donated her quilts to various causes, including the NICU at St. Joe’s hospital in Milwaukee, active military service members and victims of natural disaster, as she did in 2011, following the EF-5 tornado in Joplin, MO.
Joyce often said, after the passing of her husband, “We lived a good life.” She valued her privacy and respected that of others. In this fashion, it was Joyce’s wish that no services are to be held and she will be cremated and laid to rest in Highland Cemetery in Bayard, IA, next to her parents.
