Julia Brooks, 22, passed away in her sleep on October 18, 2022. She leaves behind grieving parents, Michael and Rachael Brooks, two brothers, Nicholas and Tyler, her grandparents, David and Lynn Brooks and Charles and Elizabeth Kovats.
Julia was an amazing daughter, big sister, and granddaughter. She recently graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelor of Music degree and had a teaching license. She was currently teaching music and theatre at Washington Middle School in Kenosha. Throughout high school and college, Julia’s passion was music. She was in multiple choirs, band, orchestra, musical productions, and opera performances. Her love of music and desire to inspire children through music led her to become a music teacher. She had just begun her journey working with middle school children and already bonded with her new students. She had a gift for connecting with children and inspiring them through music and was looking forward to having children of her own someday.
It is so very sad to think of all the young musicians she would have encouraged and inspired if her journey would have continued. Her passion for the arts inspired creativity within many and brought out excellence in those whose paths she crossed. It is devastating to lose her. We will miss all that she would have created.
Julia, we love you and miss you so much. You touched so many lives. You will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved you.
A celebration of life service is planned for Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home, 4800 S. 84th St. All are welcome to attend. There will be visitation from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., concluding with a celebration of life service beginning at 7:00 p.m.. Memorial donations can be made to Greendale Friends of Music (c/o Greendale High School Attn: Friends of Music, 6801 Southway, Greendale WI 53129)

Julia was beginning her career on a bright note and said she found her “dream job”. On behalf of Washington Middle School- we are thankful for the time she spent with us inspiring students.
Julia is an awesome niece. We love, love Grease. I was so tickled to see her perform at her HS play and we saw Grease at the Fireside with our Moms. Julia will always, forever be my musical star. Than you for letting me be your (crazy) Aunt. I love you forever. 🤟
We were so sorry to hear about Julia’s passing. Our condolences to the families in Julia’s life. Our thoughts are with you.
Julia was such a bright addition to our Washington Middle School Family. She made meaningful and impactful relationships with students in such a short period of time; they loved her and the way she made them laugh! She was the kind of teacher that students would come back to middle school to see for years to come! We miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
I hope the Brook family can find peace and healing during this difficult time. My prayers, love and support are with all of you.
Rachel, Mike and family,

My heart goes out to Mike and his family. Having two girls the same age, I cannot imagine a greater loss. May your love and memories of her help drown some of the sorrow and know she will always live in you and all the people she touched. Sending a big hug and wishes of peace.
