Karen
Ahola

Aged 82, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Ronald Ahola; daughter Sheryl Anhalt and son-in-law Mark Anhalt; granddaughter Kristen Anhalt; brother Brian Hakkinen and sister Susan Syndle; as well as other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her late sister JoAnn Pearson and many friends, including 2 of “The 3 Karens.”

Karen was born in Brule, Wisconsin to the late Hjalmer and Esther Hakkinen.  Moving to Superior after graduating high school, she became a rare career woman for her day. She pursued excellence with diligence and a smile, throughout her lengthy career with Superior Savings Bank. She retired after 40 years there, her last position as Corporate Secretary.

Karen possessed a quick, dry wit, perfectly timed– which could crack up a room full of people. The embodiment of Finnish Sisu, she was a determined, resilient and self-reliant woman who will be dearly missed.

Many thanks are extended to the staff at Heritage Assisted Living in Elm Grove for their care and support these past 4 ½ years.

Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Homes, 9200 S. 27th St., on Monday, December 30 from 1:00 – 2:00.
