Katharine was one of a kind.
She was sweet and thoughtful and feisty and stubborn.
At 96 years her body was frail, but her mind was as sharp as a tack!
She always knew what was going on in the neighborhood as well as nationwide.
She was my neighbor for over 30 years and we loved her dearly.
There is a space in our hearts where she will be remembered for all time.
We miss you, Katharine.
Dear Cousins,
Sincere condolences from us upon the loss of your mom, grandma, great grandma, and our dear “Aunt Katie.” We cherish the many heartfelt sweet and newsy cards and notes she used to send us., and her deep love for animals was so endearing. And oh my, she was such a great cook! Did you know the reason we had a Croation caterer at our wedding, despite the fact that we are German, is because we figured if the Croation caterer was even half as good as Aunt Katie’s cooking, then we knew the food at our reception would be great. (And it was!).
We have many sweet memories of the way Katie always wanted to give us something whenever we saw her — whether that was a fresh rose from her and Uncle Bob’s rose garden, or some cute little doodad from the Dollar Store. So too, will we always remember her energy, determination, spunk and incredibly sharp memory. Those like her who survived the Great Depression and World War II didn’t earn the title “The Greatest Generation” for nothing.
We will miss her.
