Kathryn Ann
Winkowski

Winkowski, Kathryn A. (nee Kelly) died peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the age of 99. Dear wife of the late Roman Winkowski. Loving mother to John (Mary Beth), and Joan (Richard) Smith. Proud grandmother of James (Cheryl) Winkowski, Jeffrey Winkowski, Elizabeth (Byron Tsang) Winkowski, Richard Smith, Robert Smith, and Bridget Smith. Special great-grandmother to Abraham and Francis Winkowski.

Born January 15, 1918, in Hales Corners to Louis and Anna (Biwer) Kelly. Dedicated schoolteacher, devout Catholic, loyal Democrat, and avid Brewers and Marquette Warriors fan.

Kathryn began her teaching career in a one-room school, stoking the wood stove and firing up young minds. She retired at age 77 as a long-term sub for Milwaukee Public Schools. A petite dynamo in earlier days, Kathryn delighted in a good story, could hold her own in any conversation, and never hesitated to speak her mind.
From her perfectly neat and rounded penmanship, learned at Holy Angels Academy, to her smart style, and quick Irish laughter, Kathryn was a classic.

Visitation Thursday, May 18, from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 3222 S. 29th St., Milwaukee, with Mass of Christian Burial at 5 p.m. Private interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Memorials to Our Lady Queen of Peace church.
