Lawrence William “Bill” Teweles
Passed away March 24, 2015, at age 91. Beloved husband of Nicole (nee Emmerich). Loving father of Julia, Gillian (Francois) Denavit, Tracy (Christiaan De Brauw), and Lauren. Proud grandfather of Chloe, Graham, Zettie, Milo, Brooke, and Justine. Dear brother of Robert L. (Karen Danderand) Teweles and preceded in death by his dear sister Mary Ann (Hytken) Bernstein.
Bill served as an executive with the L. Teweles Seed Co. of Milwaukee, for 26 years and as President for 12. He founded L. William Teweles & Co., a global crop genetics investment banking and consulting group, and later Verdant Partners, a business brokerage group for the global crop genetics industry. He traveled extensively on consulting assignments in Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Bill served as an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as well as a Director of numerous corporations and industry associations in the U.S. and abroad. Bill was a member of the Board of Directors of the Milwaukee Art Museum and a former President of the International Essential Tremor Foundation. In addition, Bill contributed to professional journals and trade publications. He attended Milwaukee University School and the College of Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin. Bill was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He remained active in business until retiring at the age of 83.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 26, at 1:30 p.m. at Suminski Weiss Funeral Home 1901 N. Farwell Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53202. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Contemporary Art Society c/o the Milwaukee Art Museum, 700 N. Art Museum Drive, Milwaukee, 53202.
