Larry was a success in business because he was honest and likable. He had many contractors give him all their work without getting other bids. I had some tell me they totally trusted Larry’s honesty. Made it a pleasure to work with him for 41 years. Miss you lots brother.
Larry was my brother in law and father to my two AMAZING nieces! Rest peacefully Larry.
Larry was my brother in law and a wonderful father to my niece’s Denise and Stephanie and nephew Brian. He was a very generous person and always happy to help people by sharing his many talents fixing things. He will be missed.
Long time childhood friends of the Charles family. My brothers and sister and I have a lot of great memories growing up Larry, Eileen, Ken and Dennis. Especially hard with the passing of Ken 5 short weeks ago. Great family. He will be missed.
Larry was such a gentleman, an honest man who would bend over backwards to help anyone. He used to tell me that I was at many times one of his most challenging clients and we would always laugh about all of the challenges we encountered and the successful outcomes with difficult design build projects. Larry was a contractor, a dear friend and I’m truly going to miss the lunches and his fellowship. Larry always spoke to how his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a proud man. RIP Larry.
I am Larry’s sister Eileen, who has lived in Denver, Colorado, since 1964. I came back to Milwaukee at least once a year to stay connected with my Milwaukee family, certainly in the summers at the lake and many Christmases. And my parents and brothers came to Denver for my and my Husband Hank’s and Son Aaron’s major life events. While Hank was living, he always looked forward to a Milwaukee trip with me and hearing Larry’s outrageous stories of adventure and risky behavior. After my husband Hank died, Larry included Aaron in the family male camping adventures.
Larry and I would talk by phone most every month, at times for an hour or more. We often ended those calls in frustration because we would inevitably get into a political discussion with very dissimilar beliefs. The last several years, as we were getting older, however, maintaining our closeness and mutual support was more primary than being politically on top. I have always admired Larry’s love, support, and closeness of his family and how he slept so little, ate cookies and chips, drank and smoked, but always got up by 4:30 am to run his business. Larry had so much love in his heart, and I always felt his love for me. It’s a different world for me without Larry. I am glad we shared so much and thank him for all the respect that he gave to me. I’ll always miss you, Larry.
