It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lena Hoskins. Born
and raised in Chicago, Illinois, on May 6, 1960, Lena was a woman full of love, kindness, and
generosity. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of
all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lena was the proud and loving mother of three children: her son Jacob Hoskins, her eldest
daughter Salina Hoskins, and her youngest daughter Sabrina Jefferson. Her children were her
world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Lena had a passion for life and found joy in the simple things. Whether it was taking long
walks, enjoying music, swimming, or tending to her garden, she embraced every moment with a
heart full of gratitude. Family dinners and strolls around the park were some of her favorite
pastimes, and she especially loved spending time with her family. Her home was always warm
and welcoming, and if you visited, you never left hungry—she had a gift for making everyone
feel welcome and made sure everyone was well-fed.
She shared her life with her companion Dale, who brought her joy and companionship through
the years. Lena also had a deep love for animals and cared for her cats, Bria and Bryan, her
birds, Lena and Dale, and her dog, Jack, with the same tenderness she extended to her family.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Rowena and John Hoskins, as well as her brothers
Michael, John, Edward, and Jacob Hoskins. She leaves behind her surviving siblings: her sisters
Rowena Hoskins, Helen Hoskins, Malina Hoskins, and her brother David Hoskins. Lena’s
memory will live on in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews, including Elaine Hoskins,
Regina Hoskins, Monique Hoskins, Robert Hoskins, Michael Hoskins, Quinton Hoskins,
Demetrius Hoskins, Anthony Hoskins, Antoine Hoskins, and Johnny Hoskins, as well as a host
of great nieces and nephews.
Lena’s legacy of love continues through her grandchildren: Jabria Pittman, Daquan Jefferson,
Jedore Jefferson, Aaliyah Belk, Jamari Mack, Quinton Hoskins, Keith Belk, Fredrick
Jefferson, Miracle Jefferson, Jakeena Hoskins, Jacob Hoskins Jr., Jimmy Hoskins, Karen
Hoskins, Jacquelle Hoskins, and Dasheanna Hoskins. She was also blessed with greatgrandchildren:
A’Mora, Xavier, Ximena, and Ruben, who brought her immense joy.
Lena’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be forever
remembered. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of compassion and generosity that will live on in
all those whose lives she touched.
May our mother’s soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
