Lois Helen Pritzlaff (nee Leninger)

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.  Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done for and through His servant Lois Helen Pritzlaff.

Lois was given life by her creator and was born on March 8th, 1938 the child of LeRoy George Leninger and Elsie Victoria Leninger (nee Neddermeyer).  She was later blessed in life by receiving the gift of a brother, Raymond Leninger.   On April 3rd, 1952, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God.  On April 6, 1952, she publicly confessed her God-given faith and was confirmed by Pastor Hiller at St. John Lutheran Church, Island Lake, IL.  After which, Lois faithfully received the Lord’s life-giving body and blood through Holy Communion.

On June 23rd, 1963 Lois was joined together in holy matrimony to Carl Robert Pritzlaff JR.  This union was blessed with two daughters Cynthia (Paul) Ovokaitys and Christine (Joseph) Fisher, three grandchildren Elizabeth (Austin) Meier, Rebecca (Erik) Maplethorpe, Andrew Ovokaitys and three great-grandchildren Edmund Meier, Agatha Meier and Theophilus Meier.

As Lois served God throughout her life, her vocations at home, church, and work included being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, church organist, choir director, arts and crafts director at Methodist Manor (now dba VMP,) newspaper journalist for the Franklin Hub, published author and a nationally acclaimed arts and crafts designer.

Finally on November 8th, 2024 God blessed Lois with a holy and peaceful death and took her home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.

Lois is survived by her loving husband Carl Robert Pritzlaff JR, her two daughters Cynthia (Paul) Ovokaitys and Christine (Joseph) Fisher, three grandchildren Elizabeth (Austin) Meier, Rebecca (Erik) Maplethorpe, Andrew Ovokaitys, three great-grandchildren Edmund Meier, Agatha Meier and Theophilus Meier, her brother Raymond Leninger and his wife Alice,  her sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws Patricia Pritzlaff, Christine Fricke (nee Pritzlaff,) Thomas Pritzlaff and his wife Penny, and Daniel Matte along with a long list of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband’s parents, Lois was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Ronald Pritzlaff, and sister-in-law Claudia Matte (nee Pritzlaff.)

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord.  Join us in giving thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister in the faith, Lois Helen Pritzlaff.

Cindy, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I read somewhere that if you keep the memory of someone you love in your heart they never die.
