Dreher, Lucille Catherine (Wolfe) Lucille C. Dreher left this world gently and peacefully on January 27, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison WI. She was born to Lydia (Deschner) and Paul Wolfe on June 28,1927 in Elkhorn WI. For her early education she attended schools in Darien and Delavan, then graduated from Evansville High School in 1945. In 1946 she completed postsecondary studies at The Business Institute in Milwaukee, WI and was employed first by New England Life Insurance Company and later by Liberty Mutual Insurance, both in Milwaukee. She married her high school sweetheart George Leslie Dreher on August 23, 1947 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan. They made their home in Milwaukee while George finished college studies, then moved to Beloit in 1950. Lucy centered her life on her family and her church. She was a very active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church & School in Beloit. She served on numerous committees, taught Sunday School, was church historian, and organized, hosted and led a weekly women’s Bible study in her home for more than fifteen years. As her children grew she volunteered as a room mother for the school, a 4H leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. Lucy taught knitting classes at Blackhawk Technical College for thirty years. Over the years, she also supported some of her friends by working parttime in their local businesses and was a docent for several years at the Tallman House (Janesville). A happy, positive, caring and energetic person she loved all people and enjoyed many treasured friendships.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 67 years, George Dreher and their son Steven (Sarah) Dreher. She is survived by her daughter Chris (Mark) Owings of Bellingham WA; son Frederick (Elizabeth) Dreher of Muskego WI; grandchildren Luke (Monica) Owings, Anne Owings Morrison, Katharine (Nicholas) Miller, Kristine Dreher, Danielle Dreher and Benjamin Dreher; greatgrandchildren Conor, Liam and Rowan Morrison, Avery and Caden Owings; three nieces, two nephews and their families.
Visitation will be held on Sunday Jan 31, 2016 at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH 1000 Bluff Street in Beloit from 1:30PM until the time of service at 3PM. The Rev. Dennis Roser officiating. Private family burial will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Evansville, WI.
