(nee Schaefer), aged 97 passed away peacefully on April 15, 2019 with her family by her side. Cherished and beloved wife of the late Alfred (Big Al) for over 71 years. Devoted mother of Russell Chabot (Ann Hynes-Chabot), Allen Chabot, Kenneth (late Arlene) Chabot, Lee Chabot (Carol Northey), Lynn Chabot-Long (Gerald Long). Cherished grandmother of Richard Santarius (Mandi Casey), Sean (Marianne) Santarius, Tanya Chabot-Lehmann (William Lehmann), and Jennifer Chabot-Manders (Robert Manders). Beloved great-grandmother of Robin Santarius, Jazmine (Andrew) Smith, Sean Johnson, Natashia (Cade) Kiel, Cheyenne Johnson, Lily and Eben Manders. Proud great-great-grandmother of Ava and Jaxen Smith, Aiden and Addison Kiel. Daughter of late Andrew and Margaret Schaefer. Sister of late Myrtle, Victor, Roselle, Millard, Mildred, Evelyn, and half-sister Margie. Fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lucille was a stay-at-home mom until all the kids were grown. She then worked at Bucyrus-Erie Manufacturing Co. from where she retired after 20 some years of devoted service. She was an avid crafter, spending numerous hours crocheting and sewing. She also made stuffed animals, dolls, and lovely beaded Christmas ornaments. She enjoyed playing Canasta and Yahtzee. She loved travelling the country with her family. She also travelled to Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas.
The love she shared will live on in her family. We will miss her wisdom and “momisms.”
