Luella Marie Severinsen

1931  –  2024

Luella Marie Severinsen of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on December 13th, 2024 at the age of 93. She was born in Escanaba, Michigan on July 1st, 1931.

Luella grew up on a farm in Flat Rock, MI, and worked hard alongside her parents and seven siblings. Being the youngest girl, she had to fend for herself often and developed a spunky attitude, so much so that she acquired the nickname “Buzz” due to a wartime ad that said, “Don’t monkey with the buzzsaw!”

She married Harold Severinsen at age 21 and they had 6 children together. They relocated to Milwaukee after the 2 oldest boys were born and attended St. Hyacinth Church where the kids also attended grade school. Harold passed away in his sleep in 1972 at the age of 42, leaving Luella to raise the 6 adolescent children on her own, but with the support of nearby family.

In 1983, she decided to seek a deeper relationship with God, which lead her to start attending a Pentecostal church in Oak Creek, Parkway Apostolic Church. She was a faithful saint, and loved to read her Bible & devotionals daily, as well as Amish books. As her children married & starting having kids of their own, she greatly enjoyed getting together with her ever-growing family for birthdays and holidays, playing horseshoe, bean bags & cards. She relocated to Port Charlotte in 2020 to live with her sister, where she continued to enjoy family visits and playing cards, as well as making puzzles, doing word searches and sticker books.

Luella is survived by her brother, Richard (Dick) Chouinard, four sons, Barry (Barb) Severinsen of Algoma, WI, Leonard (Kim) Severinsen of White Lake, WI, Glenn (Margaret) Severinsen of Caledonia, WI, and Dave (Dona) Severinsen of Manitowoc, WI and one daughter, Janet (Jon) Sobolik of Port Charlotte, FL, and South Milwaukee, WI, and one daughter-in-law, Pattie Severinsen of Ixonia, Wisconsin. Luella is further survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents, August and Roselma (Rose) Chouinard, her brothers, Roy, Leonard, and Neil Chouinard, her sisters, Geneva (Peg) Smith, Mary Jane (June) Radliff, and Theresa Mikolajczak, and her son, Bernard (Chi Chi) Severinsen, and one granddaughter, Rebekah (Bekah).

Visitation will be on March 1st, 2025 from 9 am until 11 am at Parkway Church, 10940 S. Nicholson Rd., in Oak Creek, WI 53154. Her Memorial Service will follow at 11 am
