I’m glad for Marcia that she rests in peace now, no more cancer bogging her body down, but we will all miss her.

The only person on this Earth would could make me laugh so hard that I’d cry with laughter, and do it with the ease of flipping a switch, was my beloved sister Marcia. She had a kind and generous heart. When we were kids and our Mom was not able to tuck me in and read to me out of “365 Bedtime Stories,” Marcia would. I will always remember being in the first grade and all of us were brought out onto the Atwater front lawn. Then all these big kids from the high school came in and sat down on the folding chairs to give a concert for us. There she was: my Marcia was first chair flautist! So cool, so calm, so poised, so talented. What a great surprise. Marcia earned just about every Girl Scout badge they ever awarded. The last few years brought us closer. We had some really good walks together.

Marcia had a wealth of artistic talent that came out in a variety of ways. There was music: piano, flute and guitar. She made bagels and even her own cough drops. There was macramé. She made the tiger rug. There was knitting. Oh, was there knitting! Mom taught her to knit when she was just a little girl and Marcia took to it like a duck to water. She made gorgeous sweaters that fit perfectly. She made her own yarn from raw wool and a potato back in the day, too. She even did weaving. Her loom contains and unfinished tapestry, like Marcia’s earthly life cut short.

I’m so very sorry for your family’s loss. Yet, now she can be at peace after her long illness. She sounds like a very wonderful mother, daughter, person.

I had the privilege of working with Marcia for many years up until she need to take leave while undergoing treatment. She was delightful and a wonderful asset to our work in providing care to people needing behavioral health care. She will be very missed. My condolences to her loving family,
