Marga E.
Kroening

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00AM-11:30AM followed by a service at 11:30AM at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME 4800 S. 84th St. Greenfield, WI 53228. Interment to follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.

Marga Elva Kroening (nee Soenksen) passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 24, 2025. Loving wife to Robert, and dear mother of Scott and Jennifer (Mike). Proud grandma to Ryan (Taylor), Nicole (Tommy) and Leilah (Hunter).  Preceded in death by her parents Henry and Erna, and her sister, Mary.

Marga was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 24, 1938 and graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School. She married Robert Kroening on September 16,1961 at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church. She worked as a secretary for the United States Defense Department, but her biggest joy came from her family.  She cherished time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.  Not a single concert, sporting event, or play was ever missed. Her devotion to those she loved has been a model to all who knew her.

Marga enjoyed quiet times at home with family and her beloved dogs, but she could also be the life of the party when celebrating with her husband and dear friends.  She had a sharp sense of humor, a deep compassion for others, and a strong faith in God.

Marga was a resident at Layton Terrace Senior Living for a little over two years.  Her husband took care of her at home until her dementia and physical needs became too great.  Though they lived apart, he spent every evening with her watching their favorite shows, talking, and holding hands. We are truly grateful to her amazing caregivers at Layton Terrace who not only cared for her daily needs, but loved her deeply as well.

We will celebrate her life on Saturday, March 1 at Heritage Funeral Home located at 4800 South 84th Street in Greenfield, Wisconsin.  Visitation is from 10:00am-11:30am, and a short service will follow.  Family and friends are invited to come to Arlington Cemetery for interment after and/or join us for a luncheon following the burial.
