Marilyn A. Bartel

 Bartel, Marilyn A. (nee Voigt)
Was called home to the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at age 91. Loving mom of Brett (Alina) Bartel and Wendy (Mark) Reinemann. Devoted grandma of Lilly Bartel and Christopher and Victoria Kerby. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Urban; her parents, Alvin and Lorraine Voigt; her sisters, Janet Schrank and Carol Omann, and her godson, Scott Schrank.
Born a teacher, Marilyn started teaching music at a very young age until she became a special education teacher at Hamilton High School in the Milwaukee Public School District. She brought her love of music to her teaching. She spearheaded the development of The Exceptional Chorus,  a group of her students that performed themed song and dance shows locally and around the country. Every year the chorus would go on trips to different places such as Disney World and Niagara Falls to perform. Marilyn was very devoted to her career and her students.
“Her commitment and passion for children and teaching is contagious. What an inspiration you are, Marilyn!”
When she wasn’t teaching, Marilyn loved to travel with Urban all over the country. Her favorite place was at the lake in Conover. She always did her best to live life to the fullest.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 5 pm – 7 pm with a service to follow at 7 pm at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (4800 S. 84th St Greenfield). Burial will take place on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11 am at GOOD HOPE CEMETERY (4141 S. 43rd St, Greenfield).
If you wish to make a donation in Marilyn’s name, please send memorials to Hales Corners Lutheran Church.

Many years ago, Marylin’s Exceptional Chorus sang for the Milwaukee Accordion Club program with Marilyn on her accordion.
It was a Hawaiian theme, and the kids were dressed “accordionly!”
What a special program, and so nice of her to have done this for us. Yes, she and Urban were also members of the club back then.
Fond memories of a remarkable lady.
    Rest in peace dear Marilyn.
