Marlene Eigenberger

1950  –  2024

(née Jeske) passed away peacefully October 31, 2024, after a long illness. She was 74. Marlene grew up on the south side of Milwaukee, graduating from South Division High School in 1968. She received her bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and married the love of her life, Jon, in 1980.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jon; and three adult children Erin, Michelle, and Andrew. Further survived by her four brothers; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jane M. and Edward F. Jeske.
Marlene made her way in the professional advertising world via William Eisner & Associates in Milwaukee, where she worked as a typesetter. After raising her children she returned to the workplace, enjoying positions with Reiman Publications in Greendale, Ellingsen Brady Advertising in the Third Ward, and Milwaukee Public Schools Safety Office.
Marlene was a gifted practitioner of the art of traditional calligraphy, and her hand lettering was a masterclass in disciplined beauty and thoughtful precision. She loved uncovering treasures at the thrift store (especially on half price day!); crocheting hats, scarves and afghans in cheery colors; and winning blue ribbons at the Wisconsin State Fair. She always had a kind word and a big hug for those she liked, a quick wit for those she did not, and she never stopped being absolutely hilarious.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 4800 S. 84th Street in Greenfieldon Wednesday, November 13,2024 from 4:30 PM until time of the Memorial Service at 6:30 PM.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to all of the carers from Synergy HomeCare, especially Judeah, McKayla, and Zandria; the physical therapy team at Franklin Rehabilitation; the doctors and nurses at Ascension Franklin Hospital; and the literal angels on Earth staffing the AccentCare Hospice Center in Wauwatosa.
Memorial donations can be made in Marlene’s name to the CurePSP Foundation, as they work to unlock a cure for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and other atypical Parkinsonian disorders.

I used to cut Marlene’s hair, many years ago. Always looked forward to her coming in. She was so much fun! Talked about her kids all the time. The world lost a wonderful woman. My father died of PSP, also, if that’s what she had. A terrible disease. I’m so sorry for your loss.
