Marlene, though small in stature, was HUGE in loving the Lord! She was a constant reminder to all who knew her that no matter what life deals you, make the most of it and actually use it for God’s glory. Thank you, Marlene, for all the life lessons you taught me. Kathie Quarles. 🥰
Marlene was always so kind to me and my sister growing up she was one of the kindest women I knew she never looked down on me being a young child even when I made a mess in her house which wasn’t very often, you will always be missed!!
Marlene was always boldly honest about situations and people which I loved about her. She had a fantastic sense of humor and perfect timing. Many times she made me laugh when she knew I needed it. She was a prayer organizer and champion. Marlene. was never dismissive to the children and always treated them like they were important.. She was a very special lady whom I love and will miss. Debbie Baker
My deepest sympathy. I truly enjoyed visiting with Marlene when she came in the Packing House. She was a lovely lady! Pauline
Rest In Peace, Marlene. I will miss you and always cherish your friendship. You were a special soul.
My deepest sympathy on the loss of Marlene. She was such a special lady. I enjoyed working with her at DCD when it was at the main library.
Marlene holds a special place in my heart and the hearts of all of my family. We met her when she started coming to Church in the City and sat next to her pew for many years! My sister, Tina, and I were one of her go-tos for help with her computer! During winters we would give her a ride to and from church and spring would always be celebrated with a lunch at Baker’s Square on Capitol Dr! She was always (as many have said) so sweet to our children and many others — being able to connect with them in a special way. She was sad when she could no longer do the stairs at church and serve with the pre-schoolers. We loved getting together and laughing and talking. She’d always say “We’re nuts!” and I’d say “And we’d be offended if anyone said any different!” She was good friends with my mom who would visit a few times a year, calling her to chat and always asking me how she was doing. My mom passed away last Thanksgiving, and I know the two of them are whooping it up together in the presence of the Lord! Marlene will be missed, but we are so grateful to have known her here and look forward to seeing her again.
Marlene was just the absolute best. She was close friends with my mom for as long as I can remember. She was there for so many of our birthdays, family reunion-type get togethers, Thanksgiving, Christmas, the list goes on. Not only was she absolutely hilarious, but she made sure I always knew how loved and special I was; how bright my future was going to be. Rest in peace, Marlene. You are SO loved and you’re going to be sorely missed.
So sorry to hear of the passing of my dear cousin Marlene. Unfortunately, I’ve been having some medical problems and have not sent my condolences to the family in a timely manner I hope you all understand and know that I send my condolences to the family and my prayers for the soul of Marlene.
Marlene was one of the highlights of my Sunday mornings for many years. Always a straight-shooter, she let you know how she felt and was just as curious about how me family were doing as well. Regardless of the circumstances, she was very funny and witty and certainly brightened my day every time we crossed paths. I look forward to crossing paths again!
Marlene was an inspiration to all who worked with her over nearly 30 years at the Milwaukee Department of City Development.
Moreover, she was literally the guardian angel to my kids and the many others of the staff. I will never forget her kindness and loving treatment to them.
