MaryAnn M Kanter. Our Savior and Saints gently embraced Mary Ann and took her home on August 16, 2019 after battle with cancer at the age of 80 years old. She is survived by her beloved husband Don Kanter of 57 years of marriage. A loving and compassionate mother to 4 children: Phil (Anne) Kanter, Annette (Robert) Schultz, Michael (Cathy) Kanter, and Bridget (Brian) Pluemer. Proud Grandmother to 22 grandchildren: Hannah (Dan) Deminsky, Joseph, David, Timothy (Molly), Grace, and Seth Kanter. Alexandra (Michael) Bostone, Samual, Alannah, Kathryn, Christine, James, Maria, and John Schultz. Lea and Jameson Kanter. Nicholas, Luke, Annika, Thomas, Michael and Maria Pluemer. Lovely great-grandma to 5 great-grandchildren: Landon, Roland, and Lydia Deminsky and Charles and Calvin Bostone. She is survived by 8 Brothers and sisters. Elaine Neville, Glen Mack, Terry Mack, Shirley Burg, Betsy Gutenberger, Thomas Mack, Beverly Kruger and Karen Finch.
MaryAnn proudly and lovingly was a homemaker raising her children and keeping a meticulous house. She volunteered as a teacher’s aide at St John the Evangelist school, secretary on the Athletic board, and assisted at the parish festival. Later in life, MaryAnn worked at Forest Ridge Senior Community at the Front Desk. She was a member of the Christian Women Society at St John the Evangelist. She is a self-taught seamstress. Through the years she hemmed pants, altered clothes, and made valances to save her friends and family money. She has been affectionately referred to as a “laundry chemist” for conquering difficult clothing stains. Maryann was always ready to make a meal or dessert for any family function or to simply provide a meal to those who could use the help. Her chocolate chip cookies will be greatly missed. She was a compassionate counselor to many without judgement.
MaryAnn worked at creating fond memories for her family. The annual family camping trip to Hatfield, WI is a family tradition for the last 35 years. Most of her grandchildren grew up from infancy attending and relishing this annual summer event and still participate in their adulthood!
Her Catholic faith was strong and dear to her heart and her home strongly reflected this. Mary Ann has gently guided many to the love and mercy of our Lord by spreading Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

I miss Aunt Maryann! To think that she is with God, eases the pain but the pain is still with me. I know how the pain hurts for the family, i will be there for anyone that needs a shoulder. I am so very sorry for your loss but we know she is with God in eternal happiness.
So many of my childhood memories I hold dear include Mrs. Kanter. She was a second mother to me, especially in my teen years. She was always full of wisdom and Godly advice. It brings me great joy to know that she is resting in our Savior’s loving arms. She will be dearly missed. Love and comfort to her many close friends and family❤️
Maryann was a great person and always was thinking of others She enjoyed life and family , watching her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren grow and play sports was a huge part of her life.
To Don, Mike, Bridget and the rest of the Kanter (and Mack) family, both Todd and I are deeply saddened by your loss. Your family, especially Mary Ann, was a large part of my childhood and I am grateful for all of the time spent in your family home on 67th Street. I will always cherish the fun memories that were made there or out at Muskego lake. We had quite a fun crew of neighbors back then!
Mary Ann’s devotion to her family and loved ones was amazing and I consider myself blessed to be among one of the people she treated like family.
Most of all, I will remember her unwavering faith in God, and while nothing can prepare you for a loss this profound, I hope you all find solace that she is at peace and with the Lord.
With Love and Sympathy,
Noel (Galian) Ringe and Todd Ringe
