Mary P.
Taugher
Mary P. Taugher, OTR; PhD
On August 30, 1934 in Hales Corners, Wisconsin, Jim and Mary Taugher welcomed their daughter Mary Pat, to the world. She passed away November 25, 2021 after a full life of adventure, meaning and consequence. Mary spent her 40-year career as an occupational therapist dedicated to supporting and caring for others. She was an accomplished and beloved therapist for countless individuals from the Milwaukee community. After a long and successful career in clinical practice, at the age of 64 Mary acquired a PhD degree in Occupational Therapy. She then embarked on a second career in the Occupational Therapy Department of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee mentoring the next generation of occupational therapists. Mary was a beloved sister, sister-in-law, cousin, (great) aunt, and friend. She was kind, compassionate and caring. All who knew her valued her wise words, encouragement to aim for ambitious goals, and to be our authentic selves. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mary, and father, James. She is survived by her brother Philip (Kathleen) Taugher, cousin Jane (Quick) French, nephews Jim (Heather Hansen), John (Mark Lynch), Nieces Colleen Taugher (Steve Sheppard), Margo (Rob) Glew, and Anne French. Mary was great aunt to Greg Esparsen, Liam Esparsen, Robert (Robbie) Glew, Tim Glew and Madeleine Glew.
