Michael T.
Gilhuber
Michael Thomas Gilhuber (Mick), affectionately known as “Mikky B” in the music world, passed away peacefully in his home in Grafton on February 1, 2025. Mick was an extraordinarily gifted and talented guitarist whose passion for music was only rivaled by his love for his family.
In the vibrant ’80s, Mick mesmerized audiences as the lead guitarist for the band ‘Megaton Blonde,’ a favorite among the Milwaukee crowd. Despite the allure of the glam rock life, Mick chose the path of fatherhood, dedicating himself to raising his four beloved children. For 30 years, he was a cherished custodian at Port Washington High School, where his warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on students and staff alike.
Mick’s artistic spirit extended beyond music to photography, where he captured the beauty of old buildings and one-room schoolhouses. More recently, he rekindled his love for performing with the band Zero Discipline, finding his happy place on stage, guitar in hand. As Mick would proudly say, “I have opened for Slayer, Warrant, Winger, Faster Pussycat, Blacklist, and was in a band that was the inspiration for Milwaukee’s legendary metal band Realm in a pre-Metalfest Milwaukee.”
He is survived by his children Ali (Rob) Arato, Michael (Audi) Gilhuber, Makenna Gilhuber, and Ashlyn Gilhuber; his cherished granddaughter, Charlotte; his mother Faith Gilhuber, (Chuck) Keaton; and his sisters, Debbie (Robert) Jansen and Cindy (Jimmy) Sullivan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Richard Gilhuber.
In his own words, Mick once said, “If life prepares us for something, my afterlife is gonna be epic.” May these words bring comfort and a smile to all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Celebration will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00am – 1:00pm with a service at 12:30pm at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME 4800 S. 84th St. Greenfield, WI 53228.

I had the privilege of working with Mike at Port High for 24 of his 33 years there. He would come into the food service dept every day, greet each and every one of us by name and was always in a chipper mood.
We had conversations about an array of topics over the years. But mostly he talked about music, the bands he had played in, the bands he opened for, the crazy things he did in his younger years.
He also chatted about his family alot. He was proud of his children in many ways. They meant the world to him. He Shared videos/pics of them including band performances, horse shows and just them in general.
He was looking forward to his retirement at the end of February but I know he is rocking out in heaven with the best of them now
I was an honor to know him.
Rock on Mike!
He was my second cousin, neighbor, and best friend for a couple of years when I was 18. Met my first serious girlfriend at a party at his parents house. We had so many good times with his band at the time called Tease. Rock City battle of the bands and band house Tease Towers. He was sooo talented even back then! Life happened and we drifted apart. I’d hear about him from time to time, though not enough. Mostly from asking my cousins who I also don’t see enough. We all find our way back around somehow. I love the videos at the end of memorial. Thank you to whoever did that!!!! It means a lot.
We spoke the day before you passed to the next adventure. We spoke of future plans and your retirement. God had other plans for you. Losing you is hard for many people including me. You will be missed and thought of fondly. Bless you and love you Mike.
