Mike “Bumpa” Schingeck
Passed away unexpectedly March 8, 2025, age 65 years. Cherished husband of Diane. Beloved father of Ryan (Alyssa) Schingeck, Angela (Jeff) Polzin, Jake (Liza) Prochnow. Very Proud Bumpa of Freddie and Eddie Polzin and Waylon and Wyatt Prochnow. Fond brother of Ken (Mary), Lorli (Jennifer Sandahl) Schingeck, and the late Wendy Schingeck. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good and dear friends.
Mike loved the outdoors; and while he enjoyed a good bike ride, it was hunting that was his true passion. When hunting season came around, Mike would head up to what he referred to as “The 100 Acre Woods.” He loved the challenge and thrill of the hunt and would hunt many different animals including small game, turkeys, and even coyotes, but it was deer hunting that Mike loved the most – always looking for a “trophy buck.”
As passionate as Mike was about hunting, his family always came first. Mike felt his family life was complete being a husband and father. Little did he know how much his whole world would change when he became a grandfather. Becoming “Bumpa” – or “Bumps” to his grandchildren gave Mike pure joy – he loved spending time with his grandchildren. It didn’t matter what he did with them – just being with them made his day. He especially enjoyed teaching them boxing or wrestling – he was famous for shouting out the instruction: “Give them the one-two punch!”
Mike had a heart of gold and he will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mike’s life and legacy on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Hideaway Pub & Eatery located at 9643 S. 76th Street in Franklin.
I am sorry to hear about the passing of your father in law!
Uncle Don and I have so many great memories of Michael. We enjoyed the years that we were next door neighbors when Diane, Ang and Jake joined the family. Love to you all. We will miss him.
My deepest condolences to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
My deepest sympathies to you and your family at this time, and I will keep you in my prayers.
