GALKE, Milton A. “Milt”
“Age 86, Born into eternal life on Sunday, October 28, 2012,
Beloved husband and best friend for 63 years of his wife Marylynn Mutzie, nee Tyborski. Loving father of Scott Helen and Steven Lisa Meisner, dear Grandfather of: Justin Mary, Adam, Monica Jeramie Johnson, Mathew Jessica Ringer, Amanda Rich Harris., Great-Grandfather of James, Anne, Cecilia Galke, Collette, Leilani Harris, Hayley Galke, and Temprance Johnson. Also survived by relatives, and many friends. Preceded in death by his grandson Eric.
He was born in Milwaukee, and attended school there graduating from Washington H.S. He was drafted and proudly served in Army during World War II in the SW Pacific with the 6th Division. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze star plus six other campaign ribbons. When discharged he attended the University of Wisconsin graduating with a BS degree in 1950. He took a position with the U.S. Govt. working in DCAS and GSA/FSS in Quality Control for 35 years. After retiring, he worked 25 years as an independent Quality Assurance Consultant.
He was a member of the VFW, DAV, and American Legion. He was the Historian, and wrote the History of VFW Post #5716, he also wrote the History of the 6th Infantry Division Association, serving that Organization as Chief of Staff and Historian. He had also served as President of the MacArthur Grade School, PTA in Milwaukee, the President of the Little Hearts Club of America, an did volunteer work in the City of New Berlin as a Volunteer Fireman for 9 years, and served on the Civil Service Commission, and the Board of Appeals. He also served as an Usher at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
His hobbies included: Hunting, Fishing, Writing, and reading history of the Civil War. Milt also enjoyed traveling with his wife, and attending reunions

Visitation will be Friday November 2, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 8500 W. Coldspring on Friday, November 2nd, from 9AM-10AM with A Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM. Private Entombment St. Adalbert’s cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
