Miriam Mueller Miswald (Nee Carlin)
Passed at peace to eternal life Dec 15, 2018 at 93, last of a generation in the Mueller, Dittloff and Bellehumuer families, she left the world having made it a better place.
Preceded in death by parents, Gordon M. Carlin and Lucille Carlin (Nee Bellehumuer), first husband Kenneth A. Mueller, second husband Grant Miswald, sisters Rita (late Paul) Dittloff and Mary Louise (late Paul) Bellehumuer.
Survived by sons, Thomas J. (Karen) Mueller; Gary Mueller, Richard Mueller, Kent (Linda) Mueller, and grandchildren James “J.T” (Jennifer), Jonathan, and Katherine “Katie Jo” Xiao and great-granddaughter Aria Rose. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Born in Madison WI, she resided for most of her life in Milwaukee. She received a Nursing degree from Marquette and met her first husband, Kenneth, at the VA hospital (Wood WI). Widowed in her early 40s, she returned to work as an RN while raising 4 rambunctious sons. She married Grant Miswald after retirement, enjoying a 2nd life of dancing and travel. She was an advocate of amnesty for war resistors in the mid ‘70s, a go-to interviewee for local television on the issue. She was devout, loved music, played piano and closely followed politics and news. Always positive, cheerful and nice (words most used to describe her, often preceded by “so”) she was happiest surrounded by family and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Harbour House and Hometown Hospice for their care.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec 27, St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 3160 s. 63rd St, from 9:30 – 11 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Procession to follow. Internment Holy Cross Cemetery.
