Beloved wife to the late Francisco Rivera Marin. Loving mother to Francisco (Mary J.) Rivera, Milly Rivera, Lesmes Rivera, Isa (David) Heyl), Jose A. Rivera, Maribel Rivera, Carmen M. Rivera-Muñiz, Marisol Reyes, Marilinda (Bryant) Johnson, Solina (Cécile Brown) Rivera, Samuel (Mari) Rivera, the late Gricel Reyes, the late Judith Rivera, and the late Jose Luis Rivera. Grandmother to 51 grandchildren. Great-grandmother to 84 great-grandchildren. Great-great grandmother to 5 great-great grandchildren. Daughter of the late Maria E. Rodriguez Santiago and the late Domingo Muñiz Figueroa. Sister to Heriberto (Alicia) Alvarez, Miguelina Alvarez, the late Domingo Muñiz Rodriguez, and the late Jose Rafael Alvarez.

Miriam’s greatest achievements was her pursuit after God’s heart, she loved and valued the same things God does. She had a burning heart for the will of God. Her greatest achievement was passing on her values to her children, family, and friends. She was a perfect example of true love. Her accomplishments are measured in hugs and kisses. And every time she would say. “I love You & God Bless You”, they were defined by the fact that she loves you and will never stop. Her accomplishments were defined by her faith that she would be with us no matter what. Some of her core values were to always be honest, humble, stand by your word, help, and respect others.

Her greatest joy was always us, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren including everyone we added to our family circle. During her life she openly loved everyone who crossed her path. What brought a smile and joy to her heart was to see her family attend church all together. In Puerto Rico of those who passed in the community, it was her joy and a pleasure with her best friends and church parishioners to be able to provide service praying for the “Novena/ Rosary”. Mom and her two best friends “Dona Luz & Dona Rosita” were known as the “Three Marias.” She was our biggest fan Our haven. Our teacher. Our friend. Our confidant. There was never a doubt that she was proud of Us. That she loved us unconditionally, always, and forever.

Every day, her morning routine would be reading the word of God and a process of prayers. Then immediately got her cell phone out and went down the line calling each of her children and friends. She looked forward to mass and participating in church events.  Her favorite hobbies were visiting her children and their children. She was passionate about cooking, feeding everyone, and enjoying time together. She mostly enjoyed shopping. As well as knitting, crossword puzzles, especially – celebrating birthdays and holiday was a high priority!

Mom loved music, she loved singing catholic hymns the most, although she loved all-music, to name a couple one of her favorite songs was Bautízame señor, and she loved Elvis Crespo “Suavemente”. Every time these songs were played, she sang along with her heart and soul.

Mom loved pistachio, homemade coconut candy, ginger chews and strawberry ice cream were a few of her favorite go to snacks. She enjoyed going out to get tropical flavored ice cream. She loved preparing arroz con dulce and bread pudding, but her favorite part was seeing our faces light up when it was done and sharing it with everyone.

Visitation will take place from 10 am – 11 am on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. Francis of Assissi Roman Catholic Church (1927 Vel R. Phillips Ave, Milwaukee) with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 am. Burial will take place after at 1 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery (7301 W Nash St, Milwaukee).

Rivera-Muñiz, Marisol Reyes, Marilinda (Bryant) Johnson, Solina (Cécile Brown) Rivera y Samuel (Mari) Rivera, el finado Gricel Reyes, el finado Judith Rivera, y el finado Jose Luis Rivera. Abuela de 51 nietos. Bisabuela de 84 bisnietos. Tatarabuela de 5 tataranietos. Hija del finado María E. Rodríguez Santiago y el finado Domingo Muñiz Figueroa. Hermana de Heriberto (Alicia) Alvarez y Miguelina Alvarez, el finado Domingo Muñiz Rodriguez, y el finado Jose Rafael Alvarez.

La fé en Dios fue prioridad para Miriam, ella amaba y valoraba las mismas cosas que Dios. Su mayor logro fue enseñar estos valores a sus hijos, familia y amigos. Ella es perfecto ejemplo del verdadero amor. Sus logros fueron medidos por sus besos y abrazos ilimitados. Luego de darte un abrazo ella decía “te quiero con toda mi alma y mi corazón, Dios te bendiga”. Y estas palabras fueron usadas para demostrar el amor que sentía por nosotros y este amor nunca desvanecerá. Sus éxitos fueron definidos por su fé de que estaría con nosotros sin importar las circunstancias. Entre sus valores están la honestidad, humildad, respeto hacia otros y siempre cumplía con su palabra.

Sus regocijos fueron sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos incluyendo a todos los que se unían a nuestro circulo familiar. Durante toda su vida ella amo a toda aquella persona que se cruzó en su vida. Lo que le brindaba alegría a su alma era cuando la familia asistía a la iglesia juntos. En Puerto Rico cuando alguien fallecia en la comunidad, ella con sus amigas y hermanos de la iglesia ofrecían el Santo Rosario/ Novena. Miriam y sus dos mejores amigas “Doña Luz” y “Doña Rosita” eran conocidas por todo el vecindario como “Las tres Marías”. Ella era nuestra mayor admiradora, nuestro refugio, nuestra maestra, nuestra amiga y confidente. No existe duda alguna del orgullo que sentía por nosotros y su amor incondicional el cual durara eternamente.

Sus rutinas de todas las mañanas eran leer la palabra de Dios y hacer sus oraciones, justamente después de terminar buscaba su celular y comenzaba a llamar a cada unos de sus hijos y amistadas. Siempre anhelaba ir a misa y participar en eventos de la iglesia. Sus pasatiempos favoritos eran visitar sus hijos y los hijos de sus hijos. Le apasionaba cocinar y compartir su comida y su tiempo con todo el mundo. Le encantaba estar de tienda en tienda. También le gustaba tejer, hacer rompecabezas, pero sobre todo amaba celebrar los cumpleaños y días festivos.

A Miriam le encantaba la música, mayormente cantar los himnos católicos, sin embargo, le gustaba todo tipo de música; entre algunas de sus canciones favoritas están “Bautízame señor” y “Suavemente” de Elvis Crespo. Cada vez que estas canciones sonaban ella cantaba con todo su ser.

A Miriam le gustaba el pistacho, dulce de coco, dulce de jengibre y helado de fresa. También disfrutaba salir a buscar helados tropicales, tales como el de coco. Amaba preparar el arroz con dulce y budín, pero su parte favorita era vernos disfrutar de estos y compartir con todos.

Pasaba su tiempo libre viendo telenovelas, especialmente La Rosa de Guadalupe.

Visitación será de 10 am – 11 am en el sábado, 19 de agosto de 2023 en St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (1927 Vel R. Phillips Ave, Milwaukee) con una misa a la 11 am. El entierro va a ser a la 1 pm en Holy Cross Cemetery (7301 W Nash St, Milwaukee).
