Paul (Ippolito) D’Acquisto
Paul (Ippolito) D’Acquisto, age 69, passed away in his sleep on February 9, 2025 after a brave battle with cancer.
Paul embraced life with a vibrant spirit. He was known for his generosity, his infectious smile, and his ability to bring joy to any gathering. Whether working as the Hamburglar for McDonalds, traveling to new places, playing poker, or spending time with his beloved dogs, he lived each day with enthusiasm and warmth.
Paul was born in Porticello, Sicily on April 9, 1955 to mother Antonina Crivello and father Francesco D’Acquisto. At the age of 2.5, Paul immigrated with his family to Milwaukee, WI where he spent most of his life. He grew up in an Italian neighborhood on the east side of Milwaukee. Paul attended school at St. Rita’s and St. John Cathedral.
After a lifetime of cold Wisconsin winters, Paul moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. There he bartended at the Marriott Hotel where he met many friends. After retirement, he stayed in Hilton Head surrounded by good friends and his beloved dogs Buster, Joya, Mia and Lou.
Paul’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his children: Frank (Erica Ortiz) D’Acquisto, Antoinette (Jermaine) D’Acquisto-Jackson, Joe (Taylor Lee-Clarahan) D’Acquisto, and Carmella (Harrison Colby) D’Acquisto.
He was a cherished grandfather to Isabella, Emiliana, Alessandra, Victoria, and Santino. Loving brother to: Anna Orlando, Tom D’Acquisto, Francesca De La Rosa, and Rosa D’Acquisto. Paul is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Antonina Crivello, father Franceso D’Acquisto, and brother Gaetano D’Acquisto.
Paul will be fondly remembered by many for his humor, warmth, and hospitality, as well as his ability of bringing together people from all walks of life. He enjoyed hosting poker parties, visiting his favorite bars and restaurants, and, above all, spending quality time with his family and friends.
Visitation and service will be located at Heritage Funeral Home, formerly Suminski Funeral Home at 1901 N. Farwell Ave on Thursday February 20th. Visitation will be 11am-1pm. Funeral Service will begin at 1pm.
An optional luncheon at Carini’s La Conca D’Oro will follow. In lieu of flowers, Paul requested donations be made to Lucky Mutts Rescue or St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research Center, (you can send the St. Jude’s “e-card” to [email protected]) two organizations near to his heart.
So sorry for your loss. I lived next door to Paul when he was in grade school on Warren Avenue. I always thot he was a happy go lucky guy. The memory makes me smile. His sister ,Fran was probably my first best friend. Many, many happy memories! I believe he and my brother, Wally, would sneak out for midnight fishing expeditions down by the lake!
Toni and Family,
May you find peace during this time. I hope that fond memories of your father will help keep you strong. Much love to you all.
