Schauer, Phyllis Audrey
nee Ames, age 94, passed away on September 10, 2011 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 7, 1917 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of C. Harvey and Theresa Ames.

Phyllis was a graduate of West Allis High School and Miss Brown’s Business School. She worked at GMAC and Allis-Chalmers. On October 5, 1940 she was married to George R. Schauer, Sr.

Phyllis and George owned and operated Schauer’s Coventry Inn for 45 years. She was active in groups from Ascension Lutheran Church. They hosted an AFS student, Anne Birgitte Naess Urdahl, from Norway which created an endearing friendship that has lasted 42 years. Phyllis loved traveling with George, movies with her friend Ruth, knitting her famous dish cloths for everyone, a gin martini and was always ready to party. Above all, she loved and was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a true lady.

Phyllis is survived by her brother Lionel Ames, her children: David Linda Schauer, Dennis Suzanne Schauer, George Paulette Schauer, Amy Peter Wendorf; her grandchildren: Scott, Brian, Kristen Mike, Kimberly, Paul Cathy, Theresa, Adam Jennifer and Michael. Further surviving are 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation Wednesday, September 14 at the funeral home from 4-7 pm with Funeral Services at 7:00 pm. Private Entombment Forest Home Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dana McCormick CNA, the doctors and staff at the Avalon Manor and AngelsGrace Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Phyllis.
