Beloved husband of 60 years to Catherine Fiandt, and father of Lisa, Teri, and Mary Vena, and grandfather of Haley, has passed away on July 31st, 2023.
His passing was unexpected, at a nursing home. While a resident there with my mother, he doted on her and would give her his meal if she was still hungry and always made sure she was cared for. He will be remembered for his kindness to others, his laugh, his ability to talk about any subject, and the love he had for his family. My father had a kind soul and was willing to help anyone and would give anyone the shirt off his back.
Our father enjoyed literature and history, Smithsonian magazines, watching British television shows, nature walks, planting four o’clock flowers in the garden, visiting museums, and creating amazing woodwork.
He served as a medic in the military and was proud to serve our country.
Our father was a professor and held a degree in anthropology. He was well-loved by his students.
He will be missed greatly by his wife, daughters, and granddaughter.
Private services were held.
