Haakenson, Rhinert J. Jr,
Age 91
Rhinert was born on November 1st, 1922, to Rhinert and Bertha Haakenson on a farm outside of Dickey, North Dakota. He graduated from Dickey High School in 1940 and worked on a farm until January 17, 1945, when he went into the army. He served in the infantry in the Pacific and in Japan. Upon his return home, he married Helen Holm on June 27th, 1945. After the birth of their second son, they moved to Two Rivers, Wisconsin. He worked as a Ford mechanic from 1950-1966, and then took a job with the Burger Boat Company of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Helen passed away September 23rd, 1984. Rhinert retired from the Burger Boat Company in June of 1985. He then moved back to Dickey, North Dakota where he married Lois Weber. After her death, he moved back to Wisconsin in June of 2002, where he lived with his son Cary, daughter-in-law, Dinah, and their family. The Lord called him home on November 23rd, 2013. He is survived by his two sons, Reed (Susana) and Cary (Dinah), ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His victory celebration will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7809 Harwood Ave, on Saturday November 30th at 2:30PM. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 1:30PM until the time of service (2:30PM). Interment Knollwood Memorial Gardens near Manitowoc, WI.
