Richard A. “Rick” Davey

Rick peacefully went to bowl with the angels on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at age 53.

Rick grew up in Sussex and attended Sussex-Hamilton High School. After graduation, he began employment at Milwaukee Tool. He worked there for over 10 years, starting in the print shop and then moved to accounts payable.

Rick met Michelle in 1998, and after two years of dating, they wed on September 16, 2000, at St. James Parish in Menomonee Falls. Their son Josh was born in 2004, and Rick dedicated his time and love to be a stay-at-home father, cook extraordinaire, shopper, and quintessential home manager. Throughout their marriage, Rick wholeheartedly devoted his life to Michelle and Josh. He often said his favorite place on earth was at home together as a family.

In 2014, Rick began at Steinhafels furniture as an accounts payable specialist. He was particular in his work, and it was said that if anything were off by even a penny, “Rick would find it.” He built a second family of friends and deeply cared about his colleagues at Steinhafels.

His childhood love of baseball continued throughout his entire life. As he grew into adulthood, playing baseball turned into softball leagues which morphed into coaching Josh’s Little League teams. That grew into Josh and Rick working as umpires, becoming an extraordinary father and son duo. If Josh participated in any sport, club, or activity, you could guarantee Rick would be volunteering to help and was always an active supporter. Bowling was also a passion; he was a lifelong bowler who would happily boast about his three perfect 300 games. Rick coached bowling for Village Bowl Youth Bowling League and Brookfield East High School. He was an avid Packers, Brewers, and Badgers fan and was meticulous about taking care of his yard. Rick was steadfast in things he loved and would stick with them forever. He only listened to Sportstalk Radio, only liked one band – Alabama, attended 32 of their concerts, and only ate meals consisting of meat and potatoes. Rick looked forward to his mom’s weekly calls to discuss gas prices, sports, and any great deals they found that week.

Rick and his good-hearted nature and infectious laugh will be dearly missed. He was not one for much attention, so to honor him, help a neighbor, volunteer some time, or make a simple toast with his favorite drink of Jack Daniels.

Beloved husband for 22 years of Michelle M. Davey (nee: Marzo). Proud dad of Joshua Davey. Loving son of Karen and the late Richard W. Davey. Dear brother of Kim (John) Unger and Tim (Stefanie) Davey; brother-in-law of Mike (Stacey) Marzo and Matt (Mariah) Marzo. Caring son-in-law of Sue and the late Tom Marzo. Further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and many dear friends.

Visitation to take place Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 8:30am – 11:30am at ST JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH (W220N6588 Town Line Rd, Menomonee Falls) with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:30am.

Private entombment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to help support Josh’s education at the University of Minnesota.
