Richard J.
Hahlbeck
Hahlbeck, Richard J.,
Called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 28th, 2015, age 88. Devoted husband of the late Marilyn E. Hahlbeck (nee Eberhardt). Loving father of Gary (Tina) Hahlbeck, Jane (Jack) Barber, Paul (Jackie) Hahlbeck, and Lisa Balge. Proud grandfather of Bryan, Greg, Matthew, Andrea (Peder), Daniel (Megan), Rebekah, David and Jacob, Nicholas (Rachelle), Hannah, and Madeline. Great-grandfather of Eva, Lyla, Tyler, and Mackenzie. Brother of Jean Harder. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his sister Violet Wadzinski, and brother Donald Hahlbeck.
Richard “Dick” was a fun loving, good natured person that loved to be around people. Even when he had so much pain in his arthritic knees, he always kept a positive attitude and never complained. He especially looked forward to his monthly card club dates when he could see his buddies from high school and play sheepshead.
He loved his wife dearly and his children, but he had a special bond with his grandkids. Dick had a quick wit and a giving spirit. He loved to entertain the grandkids by pretending to speak Chinese and was known to surprise them with a watermelon at any time of the year. He left us all with such wonderful memories.
Visitation Saturday, May 2nd, from 9-10:30AM at ZION EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 Michigan Ave., South Milwaukee, followed by the funeral service at 10:30AM. Interment Arlington Park Cemetery.
Richard owned and operated several businesses including Hahlbeck’s Grocery Store and Richard Hahlbeck’s Greenhouses in South Milwaukee. He also managed Milwaukee Growers and Morris Goldman Produce Company.
If so desired, memorials to Wisconsin Lutheran High School appreciated.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staffs of Wisconsin Lutheran Living Center and Personally Yours Elder Care for the compassion and loving care they provided to their father. Special thanks to Dr. Ellen Danto-Nocton for the exceptional care she provided to both Richard and Marilyn over the years.
