Peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 27th, 2016, age 74. Adoring father of Renee (Jeff) Naunheim, and Michelle Semrau. Beloved brother and best friend of Kathy (Mike) Treazise and Janine (Gary) Hofmeister. Special uncle of Mike (Marie) Treazise, Jamie (Matt) Payne, and Kate (Will) Hofmeister. Great-uncle of Sophia, Victor, and Dylan a.k.a “Gorgon”. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Victor and Hedwig Semrau.

Visitation at the FUNERAL HOME on Friday, March 4th, from 10am-12pm, followed by a time of sharing at 12pm. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.

Richard was a 3rd generation owner of Walter Semrau Sons, Inc., Mason & Cement Contractors and a member of Masons Local 8. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and driving his prized Trans Am Firebird. He was the recipient of the 2015 Garden District Landscape and Garden Award. Richard was an avid reader, and loved to laugh with his beloved family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to give special thanks to “Britts”, Richard’s caregiver and friend, for all of her loving care and support, which has made all the difference. The family would also like to give special thanks to Danny, for his loving friendship. He was like a son to Richard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Richard’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society appreciated.
