Robert “Bob” Engel
Robert William Engel. 79 yrs old. Son of William and Leone Engel (nee Marbach). Passed away peacefully on Feb. 5, 2025. Beloved husband of Kathleen R. Engel – nee Binder of Franklin, Wisconsin, They were married for 44 years.
He is also survived by his cousins Alison and Troy Dershem of Seattle, Wa. And Karen Munson, (James) of Washington state.
Proud Godfather to Brienna Wagner.
Bob was born and raised in South Milwaukee and graduated from South Milwaukee High School.
Afterwards he enlisted in the United States Navy in the late 60’s. He served on the ship the USS Compass. Island for 2 years.
Upon discharge he was employed by the South Milwaukee Wastewater Facility as Plant Operator for 42 yrs.
As a “car guy’; Bob enjoyed working on various cars and street rods. He with his friends also attended several Street Rod Conventions in the Midwest. He sometimes drove his street rod a ’37 Ford to some of them. He was a loyal member of a local car club the Acme Alley Engineers for many years. Bob also enjoyed other various hobbies like taxidermy which he learned from books taken out of the public library. He also enjoyed woodworking and made several pieces of furniture including a huge cabinet for his wife’s quilts.
Bob also enjoyed hanging out with Kathie’s cousins, the Lutz gang. He especially loved playing pranks on cousin Mary Smolen among others. He really loved talking to Kathie’s uncle Bill Lutz, commonly called “Senior” They could and did talk for hours on many occasions.
He will be deeply missed by all.
Family and friends will gather in celebration of Bob’s life at the Heritage Funeral Homes in Oak Creek (9200 S. 27th St.) on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. His life will be honored with heartfelt tributes, reminiscing about the joy he brought to everyone around him. Robert’s spirit will live on as those who knew and loved him come together to share in the love that he so freely gave.
Robert “Bob” Engel will be deeply missed but his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

So glad we could get together at the lake these past few years. We are sorry for the loss of Bob. Karl has a lot of good memories in the US.Navy where he met Bob. Many memories for me too – our sympathy.
We had a lot of good times at our Halloween parties. Wish we could be there to honor you Bob, but we will be thinking of you. Gordy and I send our best wishes to you Kathy.
