Passed away peacefully on November 8th, 2017 at the age of 99. Much loved husband of Gloria (nee Spensley). Proud, loving, and supportive dad of Kenneth (Nancy), Philip (Anne), Alderman Bob (Kathleen). Dear grandpa of Colleen (Chad) Fuchs, Erin (Scott Shockley) Escobedo, Michael, Jimmy, and Mary Donovan, Stephanie (Patrick) Repech, Eric Jenich, Amanda Jenich, Eileen Donovan, Elizabeth Donovan. Also loved and respected by numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by siblings Joseph “Jerry” (the late Catherine) Donovan, Mary Joan (the late Richard) Powondra, and brother and sister-in-law Joy (the late Erv) Niederfeld. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12th, at the FUNERAL HOME, from 5-7PM, and on Monday, November 13th, at BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3100 S. 41st St, from 9:30-11AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Bob was a member of the United States Army in World War II, serving from 1942-1945 on the 341 Engineers Medical Attachment on the Al-Can Highway, as well as serving in France and Germany. Bob was a participant of the April 28, 2012 Honor Flight to Washington DC. He is the proud recipient of the Lance Sijan Award on May 14, 2015. On May 14th, 1949, Robert married Gloria Spensley at St. Ignatious Catholic Church. Bob was employed for 43 years at Milwaukee Solvay Coke, and was the past president of the Milwaukee Solvay Quarter Century Club. He was a long time member of the Emerald Society and the Shamrock Club, loved to travel, particularly cruising.
Bob was a gentleman and a gentle man who lived his Catholic faith each and every day.
