Robert J. Gozdziewski
1946 – 2023
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 77 years. Born November 17, 1946. Beloved husband for 50 years of Joan Gozdziewski (nee Golec). Cherished father of Andrew (Amanda) Gozdziewski, Allison (Adam) D’Amato, Jennifer Gozdziewski, and Christopher (Kayla Gonzalez) Gozdziewski. Loving grandfather of Zachary, Gabriel, Max, Elias, Owen, the late Sky, Emmett, Hannah, and Abigail. Dear brother of the late Dick and Pat Karnowski, Barb (the late David) Rees and is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Returning from his time in the army, Bob met the love of his life, Joan. They dated through college and later got married. They met at a dance and danced their way through life, following 50’s and polka bands.
Together, they had the joy of raising a family. Bob was a devoted and fun loving Dad. He coached some of the children’s teams and never missed an event they participated in. When the grandchildren arrived he became the fun Grandpa, tossing a ball, attending an event and just goofing around.
He loved playing many sports, his favorite being baseball. He shared his skills with his children being a coach for some of their teams. Collecting many types of sport and non sport cards was his passion. He also loved history, especially the Civil War. He attained one of his dreams which was to visit the Civil War battlefields.
Bob loved to play cards. One favorite was sheepshead which he enjoyed with friends all of his life. Another was playing a pick up game of War or Kings in the Corner with a grandchild or playing solitaire electronically.
Bob and Joan were blessed to be part of Catholic parishes that filled their souls with faith and hope and provided a community of love. The power of prayer showed the grace of God’s miracles in their lives.
One of their most enriching volunteer positions with the church was helping to prepare engaged couples for marriage.
We are grateful for the good doctors, nurses and other care people who walked with us on Bob’s journey home. We are also grateful for the priests, chaplains and Eucharistic ministers who blessed us.
Bob passed comfortably in the arms of his family ending his battle with cancer and sickness.
Bob lived for his family, supporting their every need. He worked for the City of Milwaukee Water Department as a Meter Reader and Investigator.

Dear Joan and members of the family. I was so sad to hear of Bob’s passing but I know that he lived a full life. He was a great husband, father and Grandpa. When I worked at the East side parishes,I always enjoyed how he and Joan were very good at preparing couples for marriage. I had the privilege of officiating at one of his daughter’s wedding. I loved Bob’s sense of humor. Now his pain and suffering are over. May he rest in peace..I will remember Gob in my prayers and Masses..
