    Dear Eric & Kristin.,

My thoughts and prayers are with you with the passing of your dad. I’ve known your dad since my years at the then college at St Lawrence Seminary. We met again when I helped out at St Gregory the Great Parish. Your birth was a joy to your parents and later getting to know you at Pius XI high school.

You were blessed to have had a dad who held deep concerns for the less fortunate and his service in his different ministries. He is now joined with your dear mom Carol.

It is our faith that summons us to believe that your dad’s “life is simply changed not ended. I hold you in prayer now and the days ahead.

    In the Risen Christ,
    Fr Marvin T Knighton

Dear Family and Friends of Roger,

As Guardian, ,my Sophomore Social Studies, and Senior religion teacher at St. Lawrence, Roger brought a lot of enthusiasm, vision,, and care for the Capuchin and student communities at SLS. The process of building the new friary and chapel transformed the Hill. The new chapel brought the Spirit of Vatican II to Calvary.. He also transformed the food service by bringing in a chef who guided the Sisters working in the kitchen in the creation of some amazing meals. Roger greatly enjoyed interacting with the students and had a great sense of humor. He has had a lasting influence on my life.

Extending my sympathies at the loss of your father. He was a wonderful man. I knew him both through the Capuchin Order and through his work at Milwaukee County. He touched many lives.

Eric, I only learned of your father’s death today when I looked up his name after the return of the Christmas card I had sent him. Your Dad was a good friend and I am saddened to learn of his death. I graduated from Marian College, now University, where he was one of our religion teachers. He and Father Ron Jansch were there at the same time. What a pair! They made our college years fun! We got to be good friends and they were excited for me when I got engaged! I asked him and Fr. Ron to concelebrate our wedding in June of 1969. We had kept in touch over the years with phone calls and he sent me a draft of the book he was writing. Did he ever finish it?
I know it’s been months since this obituary was published, but I’m hoping you will get this condolence message. I’d like to hear from you sometime and maybe even send or email you a picture of your Dad from our wedding. He was very proud of you and loved your Mother very much.
    I will miss him.
    Nancy Werwie
