Roger “Rog” John Vidergar

Rog passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born on September 23, 1940, to John and Florence Vidergar. He had one brother, John, who proceeded him in death. Rog was the loving father of Keith Vidergar, Kevin (Danielle) Vidergar, Michelle Humphreys and Cheryl (Matt) Chellman, and the doting Grandfather of Savannah, Lilah, Sammy, Max and Coraline.

Growing up, Roger loved to go up north with his family and go fishing with his dad. He was sure to practice casting in the backyard so he would be ready for fishing!

Roger graduated from Marquette University and went on to a career with Wisconsin Electrical Power Company where he rose to serving as a top-level manager. Roger had several hobbies including painting plaster figurines, refinishing old furniture, creating stained glass décor, and working in the yard especially with the flower beds. Visitors and guests often commented that our backyard growing up looked like Whitnall Park. Roger was a proud Assistant Boy Scout troop leader for his sons and an avid Packers and Bucks fan.
After he retired, Roger became a worldwide traveler, visiting six of seven continents. He was a devoted member of St.Gregory the Great parish. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Gregory the Great will be appreciated.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church on 3160 S. 63rd St. Milwaukee, followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the Mass.

Sending love and many prayers to all of the family. Roger was very special to my mother, Beverly Bakkan; they were cousins. They stayed in touch over the years and my mom always enjoyed his visits when he would come to Florida and see her. I also have many fond memories of “Uncle” Roger growing up and throughout my adult years. I know he’s celebrating in heaven now with my mother. Love you always and RIP Roger.

To Roger, for the benefit of his family and friends:
To a long friendship since 1960. Multiple trips to the minor bars north of Milwaukee, drinking beer and chasing girls; wild wedding parties as we each married our loving bride; quiet evenings at the bars where we shared our hopes and dreams; more recently, our long luncheons where the four of us reminisced and complained of our various maladies. And then, too soon, there were only two of us remaining, just you and me.

Hey, Rog! I’ll miss you, old friend! Save a seat for me up there!

    Paul M. Fleming
