Eggebrecht
Roland C. Eggebrecht (“Rollie”) was called home to heaven on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, after an earthly life of 91 years. Born on August 29, 1931, in West Allis, Wisconsin, son of Richard and Lula (Hinz) Eggebrecht, Rollie was baptized on September 14, 1931, by his uncle, Pastor Paul Pieper, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Rollie confirmed his faith in 1945 at Jordan Lutheran Church in West Allis. He married Alice Schindler on October 14, 1961. They enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage until Alice’s death separated them temporarily in 2021.
Rollie attended St. Peter’s Lutheran and Jordan Lutheran for elementary school, and he graduated from Lutheran High School in 1949. He received an associate degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College in Engineering, served an apprenticeship in drafting/mechanical design at the Allis Chalmers Corporation beginning in 1952, was employed at Allis Chalmers until 1983, and retired from Magnetek Electric (Waukesha, WI) in 1995.
Rollie loved his family, classic cars, gardening, travel, photography, woodworking, and was a handyman who could fix anything. More than anything, he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. Rollie & Alice were active members at Jordan Lutheran Church until 1975, then joined Woodlawn Lutheran Church (now Living Hope Lutheran) in West Allis, where they enjoyed worship, bible study, and many Christian friends. Rollie was a longtime member of the Pontiac Oakland Club International, Badger Chapter. He traveled the classic car show circuit mainly in Wisconsin where he won many awards for the 1969 Pontiac Lemans OHC-6 that he restored in his garage during the 1980s and 90s.
Survivors include children Lisa and Kurt, sister-in-law Nancy Schindler, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Rollie is preceded in death by his wife, Alice, and sisters Heidi Wellnitz and Charlotte Bock.
A memorial gathering is planned on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Homes, 16880 W. National Ave., New Berlin, WI. Visitation at 10-11:30 am with memorial service at 11:30 am. Interment September 21, 11 am, Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, WI.
If desired, memorials to Living Hope Lutheran Church are appreciated. Special thanks to Brighton Hospice and Congregational Home for their loving care.
Lisa and Kurt,
So sorry for the lost of your father. I will always remember my aunt and uncle as ‘Toots and Boots’.
Their belief was strong and I’m sure they are waiting to see you again in heaven.
You are in my prayers.
PS: We will be out of town and unable to attend the memorial service but our thoughts will be with both of you.
During the time my husband Larry was at Congregational Home, we got to know Rollie. Before Rollie moved to skilled nursing, he and Larry sat at the same lunch table. We often saw Rollie walking the halls, getting his exercise. He always impressed me as a kind, gentle soul. Larry enjoyed his company. He always seemed cheerful and at peace with the world.
