Rolland R. Sonstroem

Formerly of New Berlin, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday June 6, 2017, age 88 yrs. Rollie was born on August 10, 1928 in Bristol, Connecticut to Gustave and Elfrieda (Jabs) Sonstroem.

Rollie is survived by his children, Jed (Jane) Sonstroem and Gretchen (Sean Parks) Sonstroem. He was the beloved grandfather of Erika, Patrick (Betsy), and Margaret Sonstroem. Dear brother of Gordon (Janice) Sonstroem, Beverly (Gene) Zahnke and Joyce (Richard) Killiany. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rollie was predeceased by his parents and beloved wife Gwen.

He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bristol and graduated from Bristol High School. Rollie served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. On July 1, 1953 he married Gwendolyn Koss of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Rollie graduated from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois and served his Lord through his love of teaching at Bethany Lutheran School, East Detroit, Michigan and Hales Corners Lutheran School, where he served for 25 years.

A Celebration of Rollie’s life will be held on Saturday June 10, 2017 at HALES CORNERS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 12300 W. Janesville Rd., with a visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hales Corners Lutheran School or Concordia University, Chicago, appreciated.
