Ryan James Schmus

2001  –  2024

Ryan James Schmus, born December 22nd, 2001, age 22, left us behind on Saturday, October
19th, 2024. He is survived by his parents – Jason and Jessica Schmus, siblings – Lily (Anthony)
Henning, Ava, and Jack, grandparents – Christine Schmus, Rita and Jeff Buchholz, and Jim
Mayotte, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

Ever since he was little, it was clear that Ryan was destined to serve his country. He always
talked about flying and could explain the mechanical functions of almost everything he
encountered so it was no surprise when he said he was joining the Air National Guard. After
enlisting, his Flight received the Commander’s Excellence Award and he graduated top of his
class at Port Hueneme. As a Senior Airman he was working as a Maintenance Mechanic at the
128th Air Refueling Wing. He was so honored to be a member of the Air National Guard and his
entire family is proud of him and his dedication.

Ryan had recently begun a career with ALLCON Construction and was planning his future as an
electrician.

Ryan will always be remembered for his sarcastic, dry humor, love of cars, love of aquariums,
creative solutions, wit, and ability to make people laugh. He never failed to bring a smile to the
faces of those around him with his quick humor and say anything attitude. If you were able to
get a smile out of him in return, you knew you were doing something right.

Memorial Gathering Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the Heritage Funeral Home 9200 South 27th Street, Oak Creek, WI 53154 from 11:00 AM until time of the Memorial Service at 1:00 PM

We at the 128th Logistics Readiness Squadron were fortunate to have him in our ranks. He was an amazing, hard working Airman with a bright future, he will be greatly missed.
