Avakian, Samuel
Passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2009, at age 82. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anne. Loving father of Jan Rick Kopatich, Diane Dan Blinka, and Karen Karnig Durgarian. Proud grandfather of Kristen and Brian Kopatich; Dan, Michael, David and Steven Blinka; and Nick, Elise and Andrea Durgarian. Sam was a lifelong servant and devoted member of the Armenian Church where he served as choir director and deacon. He was a Master Tenor of the liturgical service. He was also active on the Parish Council and in the Knights of Vartan where he served at the national level. Sam spent his career in the field of Radiologic Technology. Visitation Saturday, September 26, at St. John Armenian Church, 7825 W. Layton Avenue from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment at Arlington Park Cemetery on Monday, September 28. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Armenian Church appreciated.
