Tubbs

Sandra L. (nee: Shelp) Tubbs left this world on December 20, 2016 after several months of fighting cancer.

She is survived by her husband Myron H. Tubbs. They have been together since 1989 and married since 2000. They both enjoyed traveling when they could and doing things with the Shrine.

Born May 26, 1949, Sandy was raised in the military for most of her childhood and spent a good deal of time traveling. Much of the 50’s she was in Germany. When stateside, she would visit with her father and stepmother in Milwaukee. She graduated from Rockford High School in Rockford, MI and raised her family in Cedar Springs, MI. In 1989 she moved to Milwaukee and began a new career working for US Bank until 2014 when she retired and stayed home, enjoying her first year of retirement going to garage sales, bike riding, and taking mini vacations. She was diagnosed with cancer October 2015. Since then she has been keeping busy making crafts.

Sandy is further survived by her son Gale Thurston (Grand Rapids, MI) and her daughter, Adeana Thurston (Cedar Springs, MI), brother Edward (Becky) Rector (Wayland, MI), sister Lori (Jim) Korn (Wild Rose, WI), brother Glen Shelp (South Milwaukee, WI), brother Darin Shelp (Dawsonville, GA), step-brother Kurt (Dede) Rector (Winter Park, FL), and step-mother Carol Rector (Winter Park, FL). Also survived by her cousin Vivian (Jim) Schilling (Allen, MI), several nephews, and a niece. She is preceded in death by all other parents and her son Paul Thurston.

She was the step-mother of Chris (Char) Tubbs (Merton, WI), Stephen (Tracie) Tubbs (Brown Deer, WI), Brian Tubbs (Franklin, WI) and Paul (Sandy Hardy) Tubbs (Milwaukee, WI). She was also step-grandma to Jordan (Kate) Tubbs, Colin Tubbs, Kyle Tubbs, Eric Tubbs, Rachael Tubbs, Hunter Tubbs, and Hayden Tubbs.

Sandy loved being a homemaker and working as an assistant at US Bank. She enjoyed helping others and being with her many friends. She was happiest when she could meet them for lunch to just chat and enjoy hearing about their lives.

A Memorial for Sandra will be held at the FUNERAL HOME Jan 4, 2017 with visitation from 10am until time of service at 11am.

Memorials appreciated to the family, the American Cancer Society (PO Box 22478

“Our Friends Are Like Angels
Who Brighten our days
In All Kinds a Wonderful Ways

Their Thoughtfulness comes
As a gift from above
And we feel we’re surrounded
By Warm, Caring Love

Like upside down rainbows,
Their smiles bring the sun
And They Fill Ho-Hum moments
With laughter and fun

Friends are like angels
With out any wings
Blessing our lives
With the most precious things.”
