Shirley Connell

Shirley Jean Connell passed at 97 on July 9, 2024.  Born in 1926 to Bill and Ada Smith, Shirley grew up in Beverly Hills, CA, graduated from UCLA, and ultimately made her way to New York City.  There she married Bill Connell and had two children, Brooke and Ian.  Shirley was a reference expert for Vogue Magazine, lived in Central Park West, and enjoyed the art scene of the Big Apple.  In 2007 she moved to St John’s On The Lake in Milwaukee WI where she continued to enjoy the local museums, music concerts, and theater.  Shirley outlived her husband, Bill, and her two children, Brooke and Ian. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Ashford, nephews Christopher and Douglas, her cousins Myrna Robb (Don) and Don Woosley (Carol Rae), their families, and her many friends at St. John’s On The Lake.

Shirley’s love of music, culture, history and stories from New York made her a fascinating friend, relation, and neighbor. An open house reception will be held on Shirley’s birthday, August 7^th from 2:00pm – 3:30pm at St John’s On The Lake
