Shirley
Zauner
WAUWATOSA – Shirley E. Zauner, 92, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2021. Shirley was born Feb. 12, 1929, in St Paul, MN, the oldest daughter of Edward and Lillian Prochaska. She moved with her family to Bay View, WI, attended Bay View High School, and then went on to graduate from UW-Madison. Shirley was an active member of AAUW (American Association of University Women) and the Girl Scouts of America, and a longtime member of Nativity Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, where she participated in numerous activities with friends and neighbors. She had many hobbies such as sewing and upholstery, knitting, antique hunting, and doing crossword puzzles. She also belonged to a bridge club and an investment group, and loved meeting once-a-week for breakfast with friends. Shirley loved to travel, and in the last 20 years she and her sister Trudy visited places all over the world. Shirley and Trudy married cousins, which is why the sisters have the same last name.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Zauner of Wauwatosa, WI, and Elizabeth Davis of Boise, ID, her sister Trudy Zauner of Wauwatosa, WI, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She will be loved, missed, and remembered as the best kibitzer and dumpling maker in the family.
A family celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date.
