Susan Anne Kysely-Thompson
(nee Oestreich) “Süsy”
Susan Anne (Oestreich) Kysely-Thompson departed this world at age 73 on April 27, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born May 31, 1950, Süsy spent her young life in Greendale, WI and from the beginning presented signs of endless curiosity. She was surrounded by a world of learning which always pushed her to keep exploring. As a result, she was known for having a memory brimming with countless facts, stories, and lessons that she had gathered throughout her years.
Because of this, one cannot state all of the passions and interests Süsy possessed throughout her fulfilling life. From history, literature, and traveling to her beautiful oasis of Jamaica, her hobbies sought no limits. However, music and art were always the closest to her heart.
The soundtrack of Süsy’s life would have to encompass a symphony of genres. Whether it was Bob Marley or The Beatles, Süsy lived in a household that was never without music. But one cannot talk about Süsy without discussing her incredible passion for the arts. From picking up a pencil in her adult life, she began on a path that would lead her to an award presented by the Governor of Wisconsin, multiple gallery shows, and countless works of art that spanned from traditional canvas folk art to simple greeting cards.
She wasn’t only an artist by trade, but also in her very soul. It gave her the ability to see the magic and charm in every aspect of life. Her love for all things magical allowed her to view the world through a different kind of lens. One that sought beauty in all things. From the animated world of Disney, to the enchanting presence of nature, nothing was insignificant in her loving eyes.
It is that magic that will continue to live on in her husband of 27 years Mike Thompson, children Chris Kysely and Shannon Jepson, grandchildren Andrew, Sarah and Nate, and siblings Michael Oestreich, Karen Hamm and Sheryl Watson. Preceded in death by her parents Walter and Dorothy Oestreich.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10,2024 from 4-7 pm at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME 4800 South 84th Street Greenfield WI 53228. A Celebration of her life and Sharing of Memories will take place at 7 pm.
If so desired, Memorials in Süsy’s name to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
