Susan Lynn Gahagan

Susan Lynn Gahagan of Huntsville, AL passed away on November 11, 2024, at the age of 73. She was born on June 22, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents John O. and Bette (nee Miller) Schapekahm. Survived by her beloved daughter, Sandra L. Jeter (nee Gahagan) and her husband James Jeter; brother John E. Schapekahm (Kristine); nephews, Kurt J. Schapekahm (Nicky) and Jonathan E. Schapekahm (Jennifer) as well as other relatives and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her loving parents whom she will be laid to rest by, eternally.

Susan graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Master’s Degree in Physical Education. She had a keen interest in kinesiology and encouraged others to keep moving through sports and activities. She joined the Army in 1976 and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 28 years of service in the Army Reserves. She welcomed her daughter Sandy into the world in 1982 and raising Sandy was the greatest joy of her life.

Susan loved her home in Huntsville, AL as well as her schnauzers that she raised over the decades. She worked for many years as a government contractor on Redstone Arsenal and was proud to have served her country both in the military, as well as a civilian. She was a good and loyal friend to many as she was steadfast, nurturing and patient, with an unwavering faith that everything works out in due time.
